Sitting Pretty

03/09/2010 · 1 Comment

One of my biggest pet peeves are the traditional linen chair covers (with or without sashes) we see so often at weddings.  You are free to form your own opinions…

I know the point is to cover ugly, old fashioned banquet chairs, but nothing can conceal the “cheesy” look of a room saturated with grainy white textiles.  To me, the pretty colored sashes only draw more attention to the tacky seating solution.  Additionally, I have been witness to  at least three incidents of guests getting pricked by chair linen pins…

If your goal is to create a beautiful and classy affair, I strongly encourage you seek other rental options.  If the extra cost means using the basic table linens from your venue, so be it!  You would be amazed to see how gorgeous seating can glam up any setting.

You can’t go wrong with chiavari chairs and nowadays, there are plenty more-equally elegant-color options beyond gold and silver.  Check out the many different crystal chiavari chairs from OC Designs or their division of Commercial plastics at crystalchiavari.com

Honor thy bridesmaids

02/26/2010 · Leave a Comment

While the role of the bridesmaid should be an honor, it is often a dreaded task.  Brides can take the  ”maid” part of the word literally and forget the “honor” part in the Maid or Matron of Honor.  The responsibilities, expenses and time commitment most bridal parties endure is beyond stressful… and then there’s the tacky and unflattering bridesmaid dress!

NOTE TO BRIDES: Seeing a bridal party looking less than stellar does not make you look better. It only makes guests feel bad for your girls and think you have terrible taste.

Bridesmaid dresses of 2010 are refreshingly stylish and versatile- available in every color under the sun!  Here are some of my top picks:

2010 Best Bridesmaid dresses

Take the pressure of trying to please everyone’s unique body types off of you and let your loved ones have some input!

  • Tell them your color preference and let them present you with their top picks.
  • Choose a bunch of different dress styles you would be happy wearing and let them vote amongst themselves or send you their rankings to find the winner!
  • Pick a versatile dress and let them choose their own versions (e.g. halter, strapless, v-neck…)

Case and point:  If you want your wedding to have a positive legacy, keep your bridesmaids happy.
