Vintage, country style photo shoot-reddux

Posted by on January 9, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Everyday, I fall head over heals in love with a new wedding photographer.

Married couples: take cue from this gorgeous husband and wife, Kellie and Chris Walters.
Five years ago, when they first said “I do,” a dreamy photo shoot could not be worked into their budget.
However, after seeing the phenomenal work of Anna Cunningham of Sweet Hope Photography, they decided to revisit their special day and have no regrets.

Their vintage/country inspired photo shoot (reddux) looked like an absolute blast and could not have turned out more lovely!

It included horses, dogs, hydrangeas, lace, vintage cameras, butterflies, lamps, a tractor and more…

No captions necessary- SWOON AWAY!

Real Wedding in Tulare, CA-Jillian+Timothy

Posted by on November 15, 2011 · 1 Comment

This one of a kind wedding, photographed by the great Rochelle Mort, is full of delightful details that are sure to make your jaw drop.

As you can see, Jillian and Timothy (aka. Boomer) are a beautiful couple!
After glancing through their photos, you know that they enjoyed every second of their special day.  I also loved every moment of viewing this magical wedding.

fun wedding shoes

I want to start by showcasing the incredible fashion!  The bride looked timeless in a Marisa gown with a sweetheart neckline and floral sash.
To incorporate some sass, Jillian wore a pair of mustard colored peep toe pumps with shimmering gray fabric flowers.  SO SWEET!

In their stylish statement necklaces, dresses from Lula Kate, gray satin heels, etc,  Jillian’s bridesmaids looked ultra chic.  You can tell that they were excited to be part of occasion (and who wouldn’t be when you can look that fabulous?).

I am convinced there was a celebrity stylist on board putting all of these darling and cohesive ensembles together.
I also wonder if these precious kids have agents yet…they are ridiculously cute!

When it came to selecting the perfect location, the couple searched up and down the state of California, but ultimately there was no place like home.
They agreed that having the wedding at the bride’s family estate and farm in Tulare would make the occasion even more special.

“I love the fact that every time I go home I will remember one of the most special days of my life,” said Jillian.

cocktailhour

I am certain that their 300 wedding guests gushed about the spectacular venue. What a dreamy looking cocktail hour?

The incredibly unique and personalized touches that were part of this occasion blew me away.

Some of my favorites include; the “Boomerang” and “Jillybean” signature cocktails; a hanging display of various men’s ties used as seating cards, a sweet table that had personalized doughnuts and other treats, a late night “Taco Riendo” stand, and an incredible floating picture wall along the back of the head table featuring vintage family photographs in black and white.

photowall-outside

According to Jillian, “Having grown up on a dairy farm, I knew from the beginning that I wanted my wedding to have a rustic feel.  It was also important to me to keep the elegance factor incorporated as much as possible.”

“I kept telling my mom that I wanted a barn meets chandelier style,” she added.
Mission Accomplished!

wedding tentreception-details

Jillian knew she was in great hands with the help of her mother, who she admires for always getting things done.
“From sewing the table runners to collecting mix-matched silverware through ebay auctions, she did it all.” she said.

reception-shot

The bride also credited her trusty wedding coordinator, Tanya Fulghum of Soiree Event Designs & Couture Floral for helping to execute the wedding of her dreams.
From the get go, Tanya understood her style and put Jillian at ease throughout the whole planning process.

table15

The reception was not only stunning, it was an absolute blast!

It was extremely important to Jillian that they selected an AMAZING band to keep guests on the dance floor.  The James Gang of West Coast Music did just that.

“I have to say that in all my years of shooting weddings I have never seen guests having so much fun,” said photographer Rochelle Mort.

“Besides walking down the aisle to my future husband, the most memorable part of the day was coming into the reception tent after being announced for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Murray,” said Jillian.

“It was amazing to look around and see the faces of so many people who have been a part of our lives in different ways, all in one place, and for one reason: to celebrate with us! I felt excited, loved, happy, and most of all, blessed.”

To see this magical wedding in motion, check out Jillian and Boomer’s wedding video recap from Curtis Nemetz Productions.

Real Wedding at the Golf Club of Newcastle: Ashley + Ryan

Posted by on October 9, 2011 · Leave a Comment

ashley-ryan

how-they-met

When Ryan was a sophomore at the University of Washington, a friend living in a nearby sorority asked him to do her a big favor. “To carry on her sorority’s tradition, she was required to come up with a special performance as a surprise for her newlyassigned freshman little sister,” described Ryan.

“When she asked me to play the guitar and sing the John Mayer song, “Your Body is a Wonderland,” my immediate response was “no way,” but she continued continued to press me on it so I gave in a few days later.”

On the day of the serenade, Ryan arrived at the house in nervous form.  He became terrified when he saw 25 other guys in line (with their own acts) who would be watching him sing a sappy love song while most of them had more comical skits to work with. “I was handed a huge bouquet of flowers and a piece of paper with the name of the girl I needed t0 sing to.  It was a torn out piece of college ruled notebook paper with “Ashley Guimond” written in blue highlighter marker.  Next to it, just so I wouldn’t screw up the pronunciation it said “Gee – mond,” recalls Ryan. “That was the first time I met Ashley.”

On top of already having knots in his stomach, Ryan was instantly enamored by Ashley’s beauty and thought “Wow, she’s cute!” Not only did Ryan manage to get through the awkward performance, but he nailed it and received a standing ovation and props from all the other guys. Word got out that Ryan wanted to see Ashley again (and have a conversation this time around) and the following weekend they hung out with some friends.

“Here we are over 8 years later, and I’m sure glad that piece of paper had the love of my life written on it,” said Ryan.

Fast forward from one incredible chapter to the next- and check out Ashley and Ryan’s big day. As you can see, the bride and groom make an absolutely stunning couple! The two planned an epic summer wedding near Seattle without the help of a professional coordinator.  This made every decision more special and meaningful to the both of them.

ashley-bride

Of all decisions to be made, hiring Jen Repp to photograph their special day was a no brainer. “Her work speaks for itself and she is just so talented,” said Ashley.

I couldn’t agree more with the stunning bride…These images tell such a beautiful story and don’t even need captions!

There were many heartfelt moments that the bride and groom will never forget.

One of them was when Ryan saw his bride for the first time.
Ashley looked radiant and Ryan’s reaction was priceless!

The couple had a romantic ceremony full of sweet sentiments and personal touches. One moment that stood out from the rest was when Ryan’s sister, a bridesmaid, concluded the service by singing “Forever” by Ben Harper.

It seems like singing love songs might be in Ryan’s family genes?!?

ceremony-kiss

“Unlike many grooms who sit back and let the bride work out the details on her own, Ryan was very much involved in the planning process which meant a lot to me,” said Ashley.

She added, “While I had a vivid image of what I wanted my wedding to look like, it was my sister who really helped me bring all the details to life.  She handmade all of my save the date cards and wedding invitations, she found the yellow vases that were then wrapped in lace for our centerpieces, she helped me create the place card stands using easels, which were later used to display some of our childhood photos, and on and on.  I don’t know what I would have done without her!”

Love is Sweet, indeed!

Overall, the three most important factors were food, photos and fun! The food was delicious, the photos turned out incredible and everyone had such a blast.  ”We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding,” said the bride and groom.

Finally, the perfect image to sum up Ryan and Ashley’s unforgettable wedding… pretty dreamy, right?

Wedding at the Ringling Mansion in Sarasota: Jackie + Tim

Posted by on September 26, 2011 · 4 Comments

proposal and engagement

Jackie and Tim both work as Prosecutors in New York, but the Attorneys did not cross paths in the big apple In August 2008, the two attended the same training session in Columbia, SC and shared immediate sparks.

Luckily, living in the same city meant that their romance could continue to blossom when the session was complete.

At the end of 2009, Jackie returned to the same training facility where she met the love of her life.  She knew this session could not be as special as the first, but Jackie was wrong.  On the final night of training, Tim flew to Columbia and staged a surprise proposal with the help of the facility and some colleagues.

“It was incredibly romantic and very sweet,” recalls Jackie.

When K and K Photography sent me Jackie and Tim’s wedding photos, my jaw hit the ground.  Every single image was (and is) truly spectacular!  It looks like one of those remarkable events that you pray to get invited to.

I fell even more in love with this wedding after speaking with the bride. “I wanted everything about the wedding to be personal or meaningful in some way,” said Jackie. Jackie grew up in the Sarasota Florida area where, coincidentally, Tim’s family owned a vacation condo.  The couple knew Sarasota was the perfect destination for their October nuptials.

Jackie and Tim also shared fond childhood memories of attending the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey’s Circus and the Ringling Museum of Art with their families. They couldn’t have dreamed up a more stunning venue than the historic Ca’d'Zan Mansion, a glamorous estate built by John and Mable Ringling in the 1920s.

The colorful mansion, nestled along the water, helped to inspire many of the other wedding details. Everything came together with the help of Coordinator Beth Carrick of Flawless Occasions.

Jackie looked absolutely radiant in her layered Vera Wang wedding gown with a floral belt.

The venue had no shortage of dreamy settings for taking pictures…

This next image, in particular, is screaming to be framed on the couple’s wall.

Dressed in stylish blue Jenny Yoo dresses, the bridal party looked fabulous.  You can tell by all the smiles and facial expressions that they were all ecstatic to be part of Jackie and Tim’s special day.

Have you ever seen such beautiful clowns?!?

After planning an outdoor ceremony and reception, Jackie was so thankful that “The weather was absolutely beautiful (not a cloud in the sky), and the temperature was perfect.  The sunset over the water during the ceremony and cocktail hour was amazing,”  she said.

The couple incorporated many creative vintage circus elements into their wedding, including;

  • Vintage Circus Lettering on signs and invitations
  • Guest welcome bags full of vintage circus candy
  • Escort Cards in Giraffe or elephant silhouettes
  • A photo booth full of fun circus props
  • A cotton candy machine during dessert
  • Round red clown noses for fun photo-ops
  • Custom trapeze and ringmaster cake topper featuring the bride and groom

Side note: That cake topper is off the charts! It was handmade by the talented Kate Chilko, a friend of the bride and groom.
Visit katechilko.com or email Kate to get one of your own.

From the below image, you can see how the beauty and style of the mansion helped inspire their complimentary color palette. Apple Blossoms Floral Design did a great job of adding some vintage flair and charm to the luscious bouquets and centerpieces.

When I asked Jackie to pick her favorite wedding memory, she said:

“I’ll never forget our first dance to Peter Gabriel’s “Book of Love.”  We had just gotten married, we were dancing on the terrace of this beautiful mansion by the water with all of our family/friends around us, on a perfect night – I really could not have imagined it any better!

To conclude Jackie and Tim’s magical celebration full of beauty, love and laughter, guests showered the newlyweds with gold streamers as they made their exit (smiling from ear to ear).

A classic real wedding in Plano, TX: Allison+Blake

Posted by on July 6, 2011 · 6 Comments

Allison and Blake's TX wedding

When Allison joined the Theta house as a freshman at the University of Oklahoma, she felt lucky to have such great new sorority sisters.
Little did she know, one of the girls would help make their sisterhood official.

Brooke, a Senior Theta, told Allison that her younger brother Blake (also a freshman) had a crush on her.  She encouraged them to meet so Allison took to Facebook to make the introduction.  “We hung out as a group at our sorority’s first date party, shared a strong connection and the rest was history,” said Allison..
proposal and engagement

Fast forward through four years of college and 5 months in the “real world” and Allison and Blake were still together and very much in love.  Allison was ready to get engaged and Blake made sure the proposal was epic.
A close friend invited the couple to attend a formal fundraiser at her parents Country Club.  She said it would be a fun cocktail party with great food, drinks and even a limo to escort them.  Allison and Blake happily accepted the invite.

On the day of the event, Allison rushed home from work to get ready, trying on dress after dress.  “My mom had sent me a new dress recently but I wanted to save that for something special! I had no idea just how special of a night it would be,” Allison said.

She got a text message from Blake saying “Almost There” and soon after, the doorbell rang.
Blake had a key to her place and has never rang the doorbell, so she was caught a bit off guard. When she opened the door an older man (not Blake) wearing a suit handed her a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and a note that read:  Change of plans, your ride awaits. Put on your NEW dress. I love you.

There was a beautiful limo in the background.  With butterflies in her stomach, the empty limo took her to a nearby park where Blake had grown up.  She was directed to a romantic gazebo where Blake stood, dressed to the nines.  After saying some of the most special things Allison had ever heard, he popped the question. “Yes!” she shouted, as Blake placed the stunning diamond ring on her finger.

“But the night was not over…not even close,” recalled Allison.  “The limo took us to a luxury hotel in downtown Dallas where we sat at a private chef’s table and ate the most delicious 7 course meal I ever had.  I wanted to share the exciting news, but Blake said he wanted some special alone time first, so I put away my cell phone.”
While strolling through the glamorous hotel, Blake led his new fiance to a room upstairs.  To Allison’s surprise, all of her friends and family were gathered inside to celebrate the engagement.

wedding-date-a+b

Allison is one of the most beautiful and timeless brides I have ever seen!

Her outstanding wedding photographer, Jennefer Wilson, took so many amazing photographs that choosing just a few to share was no easy task.

Beautiful classic real bride

Does she not look like she belongs on the cover of a bridal magazine?

Allison wore a classic lace, trumpet style wedding gown adorned with a floral sash (both by Enzoani).  Her timeless look was completed with hair and makeup by Mitzi Merritt and sparkling teardrop earrings she found on etsy.

allison-bridesmaids-purple

Sarah Cashman, the mother of the bride, was dedicated to making her daughter and (current) son-in-law’s dream wedding come to life.  “My mom is a superstar and an amazing role model, ” said Allison.  “She planned every last detail without the help of a professional and the entire wedding could not have been more perfect.”

Dr. Delphinium Designs was responsible for all the floral decor and stunning bouquets.

Real wedding flowers and bouquets

In case you had not noticed, the bride’s bouquet was an incredible work of art!  It was also full of sweet sentimental value.

Allison explained, ” I lost both grandfathers and Blake had lost one of his as well, so I had my Papa’s handkerchief, my other grandfather’s tie clip and his Papa’s army dog tag all wrapped around the stems of my bouquet with a piece of lace from my dress. I felt like they were all helping me walk down the aisle. The Bible verses and songs sung during the ceremony all had special meanings to Blake and I as well.”

The heartfelt marriage ceremony was followed by a classic and enchanting reception at the Gleneagles Country Club in Plano.

wedding reception-A+B

The room was full of elegant white and silver accents and various shades of purple colored details.

Allison and Blake wanted the celebration to be fun and memorable for every guest and their mission was certainly accomplished.

When I asked the bride about her favorite wedding memory she said, ” There were so many that I cannot pick just one.  A few that immediately come to mind are:

  • Waiting with my dad before it was time to walk down the aisle.  He did some deep breathing with me and really helped me stay calm.
  • Walking down the aisle towards my groom. It was as if no one else was in the room and I don’t think I have ever had a bigger smile on my face.
  • Dancing the night away with my new husband and hundreds of our friends and family members.
  • Walking in to the reception and being blown away by how it all came together.
  • Knowing that as soon as it was all over, I would be a married woman!

Allison's favorite wedding memories

“I think having so many people in one place, who love and support us, also helped make our wedding so special,” she concluded.  “It was the best day of our lives.”

Real Wedding in Pebble Beach: Erin+Andrew

Posted by on April 25, 2011 · 6 Comments

erin-andrew-wedding

Erin and Andrew met during their Senior year of college at UC-Berkeley and became close friends.
“The transition from friends into something more serious happened while traveling in Australia after graduation
,” Erin says.

proposal and engagement

Last February, the adorable couple was invited to join Andrew’s sister (and family) on a beach house vacation in Oahu, Hawaii.  Of course, the two did not pass up the opportunity to take a romantic getaway together.  While Erin had a tranquil and relaxing vacation, she had no idea that Andrew had nervously been walking around with a diamond ring in his pocket, searching for the perfect moment to pop the question.

When Erin and Andrew sat on the beach to soak in the beautiful sunset on their last day in Oahu, Andrew presented the diamond ring and formally asked Erin to become his wife.

beautiful-beach-wedding

First, many thanks to the talented Sia McDonald for sharing these amazing photographs!

To say that Erin and Andrew’s wedding was “dreamy” is an understatement.  Every last wedding detail, which there was no shortage of, was thoughtfully planned by the visionary bride.  Erin loves finding little pieces that inspire her, from flea market finds to garage sale nick-knacks. Clearly, the girl could have a very bright future in event design.

pebble-beach-outdoor-weddingceremony-pebble-beach

The wedding was held at a family friend’s private estate in Pebble Beach California.

We were so incredibly fortunate to have such special friends offer up their beautiful home for the occasion.  The homeowners, my parents, family friends, and my husband and I were a regular work detail at the property in the weekends and months leading up to the wedding,” says Erin.

private-estate-wedding-reception

She adds, “I love and enjoy design, and really felt it was important that people felt like they were part of a special event from the moment they stepped onto the property.”

Mission accomplished!

Perhaps what makes this wedding so utterly chic is the brilliant infusion of many different wedding styles.  Erin managed to maintain a cohesive look with universal appeal- giving every guest something to swoon over.

wedding-details

Having a skilled “handyman” for a dad and a creative mother, Erin counted on her parents to help with the many do-it-yourself “wedding projects” she envisioned.

Projects included: the hand painted sign post, a family photo wall, wooden lanterns on the pathway, hanging tree lights with floating blooms, a mirrored place card display, a custom photo booth, etc.

Together, the bride and groom designed all of the wedding paper goods (printed by the Greener Printer).

stunning-pebble-beach-wedding

When I asked Erin which wedding details were most important to her she said, “According to my husband, everything!”

“I think a lot of my family and friends looked at me like I was crazy when I was going into so much detail, but I asked them just to trust me and that once it’s all put together they will understand why I wanted it…and they did.”

Be sure t0 check out Erin and Andrew’s “dream team” of outstanding wedding vendors!

Wedding Dress Envy: Rebecca Twigley Judd

Posted by on April 13, 2011 · Leave a Comment

Before I get into showcasing some new designer bridal gowns for Spring 2012, I had to indulge you in seeing this fabulously sexy and breathtaking bridal gown.

This showstopping dress was worn by Aussie model Rebecca Twigley at her New Year’s Eve wedding to AFL football player Chris Judd in Melbourne, Australia… kind of looks like Vera Wang meets P’nina Tornai?

rebecca-judd-wedding

Above images courtesy of Zimbio

According to the Wedding Style Guide,

Rebecca chose close friends Jacob Luppino and Anthony Pittorino of J’Aton Couture to create her exquisite art deco-inspired gown as well as her bridesmaids and her mothers gowns. Weighing a whopping 30kg the gown featured lace and intricate beading all over the bodice and took 300 hours to make.

Clearly one talented and fashion forward design house…

RebeccaJudd-bridesmaids

J’Aton also dressed Rebecca’s bridesmaids in flowing pewter gowns of different styles to compliment each one of their figures.

I am enamored by these amazing, sultry bridesmaid dresses… however, I wish there was one extra layer of fabric on the bottom!

What do you think of the Aussie bombshell’s wedding style?

Fash the Dress photos

Posted by on March 25, 2011 · Leave a Comment

I’ve seen my fair share of creative Trash the Dress photos, however, I often cringe at the sight of special and stunning gowns being destroyed (deliberately).

So, when Mandie Charlton of ShutterBrugs Photography sent me this “Fash the Dress” photo session of Katarina and Scott, I was thrilled to see an alternative shoot that celebrates wedding style.

Instead of coating our brides in mud, we aim for a more high end shoot with an editorial feel for our couples,” described Mandie.

french styled bride and groom shoot

The highly sophisticated and fashion forward couple, had a Marie Antoinette themed wedding followed by a romantic honeymoon in France.

Looking tres chic, Mandie photographed the newlyweds in an outdoor winter wonderland with fresh snow and bare trees.  To complete the picture perfect, Parisian style scene, the setting included an adorable cake made by J’Adore Cake Co and romantic flowers from Fleurish Design Studio.

Katarina was a vision in her couture Oscar de la Renta gown purchased at White Toronto.  It was a dress was fit for a princess with its feminine frills and layers of luxury fabrics.

Scott looked sharp in a custom tailored Hugo Boss suit from Harry Rosen and PRADA shoes he received as a gift from Katarina on their wedding day.

Real Wedding in upstate New York: Kristin+Craig

Posted by on March 7, 2011 · Leave a Comment

proposal and engagement

One unexpected evening, Craig, a professional map maker, gave Kristin a custom map that highlighted all of their special places.  He included the vegan Restaurant in NYC where he first met Kristin, the spot of their first vacation, camping trip and one other place that was covered with a giant sticker. When Kristin peeled off the sticker she saw the city the couple just recently moved to along with an aid that said “Will you marry me?

barn-wedding

First, don’t these two make an adorable couple? The beautiful images by Turnquist Photography, show you just how sweet and picture perfect their wedding day was. Kristin wore a beautiful and timeless lace wedding gown by Jim Hjelm.  Her bridal party selected their own yellow colored dresses and the groomsmen wore matching yellow ties. barn-wedding 2

The bride described her wedding style as “Country Chic.” She adds, “My perfect wedding day consisted of hay rides, bonfires with s’mores, apple cider (made locally) and horses that guests could feed apples to.” The Apple Barn Farm in Livingston New York offered all of these things and proved to be the ideal venue.

barn-wedding-3

I adore the vintage, mismatched china patterns on each table and the above image of the bride and groom dancing while a bridesmaid sings. The couple’s reception was jam packed with rustic barnyard themed details (as shown below). barn-reception-details

Ultimately, creating a fun experience for their guests was the the bride and groom’s ultimate goal and they did not fall short… It was an epic and unforgettable occasion!
