In honor of Cinco De Mayo, some fabulous fiesta style wedding inspiration:

I’m so in love with the  above photos.  The first one I spotted on the Sweetest Occasion blog and the second I found at Events of Love and Splendor.  Two great blogs that always inspire!

The Real Spanish Style Wedding Ceremony below is also pretty fantastic.  It was originally posted on the Ruffled bridal blog.

Crown Jewel Tones from WedLuxe

Posted by on April 18, 2011 · Leave a Comment

With the massive overload of Royal Wedding articles and blog posts, I have resisted the temptation of adding to the hype… until now.

royal wedding cake from the caketress

After seeing the incredible sapphire cake (above) by Lori Hutchinson of the Caketress, I headed to WedLuxe Magazine’s website to see the full pictorial and it did not disappoint!  How could I keep these photos to myself?

Sadly, the Prince and soon to be Princess of England are taking more of traditional British approach with their two commissioned Royal Wedding Cakes, as reported by the UK’s Telegraph. I’m assuming we will not be seeing any jewel tones or feathers either, however, the inspiring WedLuxe photo shoot is undoubtedly majestic!

Fun embellished wedding shoes

Posted by on April 18, 2011 · 1 Comment

We love seeing photographer’s creative and breathtaking shoe shots! Fun, designer wedding heels have been a hot bridal trend these days.

Although, some brides wind up wearing their fancy footwear for a maximum of 3 hours, they are willing to dish out hundreds and even thousands of dollars for that special pair of Manolo Blahniks, Christian Louboutins, or Jimmy Choos.  Why not let you your shoes take the spotlight?

These fun, hand painted/embellished wedding shoes are couture works of art. They are guaranteed to produce unforgettable photographs and, unlike mainstream designer brands, you won’t see other brides wearing them.

DIY Moroccan Lanterns

Posted by on March 13, 2011 · Leave a Comment

Oh, Design Sponge, how I love thee…

Katie Steuernagle, DIY expert and Ohdeedoh contributor, shared this awesome Moroccan Lantern DIY on Design Sponge.  She used old glass sauce jars that were in her house and created these golden, jewel toned masterpieces.

Here are the DIY instructions:

Materials

  • old glass jars (spaghetti jars, jam jars or any plain glass jar will work)
  • gold dimensional puff paint
  • glass paint (Delta or Pebeo Vitrea glass paint are great options)
  • paintbrush
  • wire (optional, for hanging lanterns)

Instructions

1. Remove labels and any glue residue from the glass jars and allow them to dry completely.

2. Apply the gold dimensional paint in various patterns. You can use the applicator tip to create small stud-like dots, draw various decorative patterns or push around the paint to create solid areas of gold. Let dry.

3. Pour a small amount of glass paint inside the jar and use your paintbrush to drag the paint up the sides of the jar, coating all of the jar’s interior. Let dry.
4. Your lanterns are now ready to enjoy indoors or out!
Simply fill them with candles or add loops of fine-gauge wire to the tops for easy hanging.

Dressing Wedding Tables

Posted by on March 3, 2011 · 7 Comments

You know that the bride has infused her wedding with personal style when the table linens resemble her wedding dress.

Long gone are the days of the standard, stiff white or ivory tablecloths.  HOORAY!
If it makes sense to choose your wedding gown before picking your jewelry, then why not approach your reception tables this way?
I hope my examples inspire you:

Wow…I mean seriously, WOW!

Plaza Hotel (NYC) wedding photo by Christian Oth

I don’t even know this bride yet I’m tempted to frame and plaster her picture on my wall.  This mind blowing image taken by New York photographer Christian Oth, is a work of art that’s too perfect for words.

The  historic Plaza Hotel, the stunning bride in her Monique Lhuillier gown, the prowd mother holding her daughter’s veil and the most PRICELESS, natural reaction I’ve ever seen… what could be better?

Bravo, Christian Oth!

Zen Inspired Wedding Decor

Posted by on December 17, 2010 · Leave a Comment

I love how Kate and Daniel’s wedding created a “zen-like” environment for their guests to enjoy.

If you’re looking for some easy, breezy tabletop inspiration here are a few simple centerpiece ideas I’ve collected from across the web.

These remind me of a luxurious spa and that’s a tranquil feeling that is always welcomed.

Remember, zen principles say less is more.  What a delightful, pocketbook friendly tip!

Inspired by Art

Posted by on April 4, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Nowadays, brides have so many resources online to guide them through the planning process.

On top of resourceful sites like The Knot and Project Wedding, the web has hundreds of inspiring bridal blogs (like wedsavvy) to turn to.

However, like over-studying for an exam, sometimes the solutions create more of a problem… a problem called inspiration overload. Future brides can find their head spinning when trying to find that perfect color palette or wedding style to fit both you AND your fiance’s tastes.

For the many couples who cohabit before marriage, why not take cues from your surroundings?  If you think about it, designing your wedding is like decorating a house or apt. with your beau.  You pick out furniture, paint colors, and art  for your home, taking both tastes into account (ideally).

For example, say you and your fiance purchased the “Birds 2″ painting (above) for your living room.
You can use the colors, style and mood of the artwork to create your own wedding inspiration board like I did below.
