A classic real wedding in Plano, TX: Allison+Blake

Posted by on July 6, 2011 · 6 Comments

Allison and Blake's TX wedding

When Allison joined the Theta house as a freshman at the University of Oklahoma, she felt lucky to have such great new sorority sisters.
Little did she know, one of the girls would help make their sisterhood official.

Brooke, a Senior Theta, told Allison that her younger brother Blake (also a freshman) had a crush on her.  She encouraged them to meet so Allison took to Facebook to make the introduction.  “We hung out as a group at our sorority’s first date party, shared a strong connection and the rest was history,” said Allison..
proposal and engagement

Fast forward through four years of college and 5 months in the “real world” and Allison and Blake were still together and very much in love.  Allison was ready to get engaged and Blake made sure the proposal was epic.
A close friend invited the couple to attend a formal fundraiser at her parents Country Club.  She said it would be a fun cocktail party with great food, drinks and even a limo to escort them.  Allison and Blake happily accepted the invite.

On the day of the event, Allison rushed home from work to get ready, trying on dress after dress.  “My mom had sent me a new dress recently but I wanted to save that for something special! I had no idea just how special of a night it would be,” Allison said.

She got a text message from Blake saying “Almost There” and soon after, the doorbell rang.
Blake had a key to her place and has never rang the doorbell, so she was caught a bit off guard. When she opened the door an older man (not Blake) wearing a suit handed her a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and a note that read:  Change of plans, your ride awaits. Put on your NEW dress. I love you.

There was a beautiful limo in the background.  With butterflies in her stomach, the empty limo took her to a nearby park where Blake had grown up.  She was directed to a romantic gazebo where Blake stood, dressed to the nines.  After saying some of the most special things Allison had ever heard, he popped the question. “Yes!” she shouted, as Blake placed the stunning diamond ring on her finger.

“But the night was not over…not even close,” recalled Allison.  “The limo took us to a luxury hotel in downtown Dallas where we sat at a private chef’s table and ate the most delicious 7 course meal I ever had.  I wanted to share the exciting news, but Blake said he wanted some special alone time first, so I put away my cell phone.”
While strolling through the glamorous hotel, Blake led his new fiance to a room upstairs.  To Allison’s surprise, all of her friends and family were gathered inside to celebrate the engagement.

wedding-date-a+b

Allison is one of the most beautiful and timeless brides I have ever seen!

Her outstanding wedding photographer, Jennefer Wilson, took so many amazing photographs that choosing just a few to share was no easy task.

Beautiful classic real bride

Does she not look like she belongs on the cover of a bridal magazine?

Allison wore a classic lace, trumpet style wedding gown adorned with a floral sash (both by Enzoani).  Her timeless look was completed with hair and makeup by Mitzi Merritt and sparkling teardrop earrings she found on etsy.

allison-bridesmaids-purple

Sarah Cashman, the mother of the bride, was dedicated to making her daughter and (current) son-in-law’s dream wedding come to life.  “My mom is a superstar and an amazing role model, ” said Allison.  “She planned every last detail without the help of a professional and the entire wedding could not have been more perfect.”

Dr. Delphinium Designs was responsible for all the floral decor and stunning bouquets.

Real wedding flowers and bouquets

In case you had not noticed, the bride’s bouquet was an incredible work of art!  It was also full of sweet sentimental value.

Allison explained, ” I lost both grandfathers and Blake had lost one of his as well, so I had my Papa’s handkerchief, my other grandfather’s tie clip and his Papa’s army dog tag all wrapped around the stems of my bouquet with a piece of lace from my dress. I felt like they were all helping me walk down the aisle. The Bible verses and songs sung during the ceremony all had special meanings to Blake and I as well.”

The heartfelt marriage ceremony was followed by a classic and enchanting reception at the Gleneagles Country Club in Plano.

wedding reception-A+B

The room was full of elegant white and silver accents and various shades of purple colored details.

Allison and Blake wanted the celebration to be fun and memorable for every guest and their mission was certainly accomplished.

When I asked the bride about her favorite wedding memory she said, ” There were so many that I cannot pick just one.  A few that immediately come to mind are:

  • Waiting with my dad before it was time to walk down the aisle.  He did some deep breathing with me and really helped me stay calm.
  • Walking down the aisle towards my groom. It was as if no one else was in the room and I don’t think I have ever had a bigger smile on my face.
  • Dancing the night away with my new husband and hundreds of our friends and family members.
  • Walking in to the reception and being blown away by how it all came together.
  • Knowing that as soon as it was all over, I would be a married woman!

Allison's favorite wedding memories

“I think having so many people in one place, who love and support us, also helped make our wedding so special,” she concluded.  “It was the best day of our lives.”

Real Wedding in Pebble Beach: Erin+Andrew

Posted by on April 25, 2011 · 6 Comments

erin-andrew-wedding

Erin and Andrew met during their Senior year of college at UC-Berkeley and became close friends.
“The transition from friends into something more serious happened while traveling in Australia after graduation
,” Erin says.

proposal and engagement

Last February, the adorable couple was invited to join Andrew’s sister (and family) on a beach house vacation in Oahu, Hawaii.  Of course, the two did not pass up the opportunity to take a romantic getaway together.  While Erin had a tranquil and relaxing vacation, she had no idea that Andrew had nervously been walking around with a diamond ring in his pocket, searching for the perfect moment to pop the question.

When Erin and Andrew sat on the beach to soak in the beautiful sunset on their last day in Oahu, Andrew presented the diamond ring and formally asked Erin to become his wife.

beautiful-beach-wedding

First, many thanks to the talented Sia McDonald for sharing these amazing photographs!

To say that Erin and Andrew’s wedding was “dreamy” is an understatement.  Every last wedding detail, which there was no shortage of, was thoughtfully planned by the visionary bride.  Erin loves finding little pieces that inspire her, from flea market finds to garage sale nick-knacks. Clearly, the girl could have a very bright future in event design.

pebble-beach-outdoor-weddingceremony-pebble-beach

The wedding was held at a family friend’s private estate in Pebble Beach California.

We were so incredibly fortunate to have such special friends offer up their beautiful home for the occasion.  The homeowners, my parents, family friends, and my husband and I were a regular work detail at the property in the weekends and months leading up to the wedding,” says Erin.

private-estate-wedding-reception

She adds, “I love and enjoy design, and really felt it was important that people felt like they were part of a special event from the moment they stepped onto the property.”

Mission accomplished!

Perhaps what makes this wedding so utterly chic is the brilliant infusion of many different wedding styles.  Erin managed to maintain a cohesive look with universal appeal- giving every guest something to swoon over.

wedding-details

Having a skilled “handyman” for a dad and a creative mother, Erin counted on her parents to help with the many do-it-yourself “wedding projects” she envisioned.

Projects included: the hand painted sign post, a family photo wall, wooden lanterns on the pathway, hanging tree lights with floating blooms, a mirrored place card display, a custom photo booth, etc.

Together, the bride and groom designed all of the wedding paper goods (printed by the Greener Printer).

stunning-pebble-beach-wedding

When I asked Erin which wedding details were most important to her she said, “According to my husband, everything!”

“I think a lot of my family and friends looked at me like I was crazy when I was going into so much detail, but I asked them just to trust me and that once it’s all put together they will understand why I wanted it…and they did.”

Be sure t0 check out Erin and Andrew’s “dream team” of outstanding wedding vendors!

Vintage bridal styles inspired by the Tube

Posted by on April 11, 2011 · Leave a Comment

People have been going MAD over the hit TV series, Mad Men on AMC.  The award winning show fuels our love for vintage fashion and has been inspiring many 1960′s style brides and celebrations.

The Aisle Say blog from Brides.com offers some easy tips for having your own Mad Men style wedding.

Here’s my quick recap:

Mad-Men-inspired-wedding-tips

*All photos courtesy of Brides.com

  1. Retro style hair waves (use a large barreled curling iron to get them)
  2. Where a pair of white wedding gloves (shorter styles work best)
  3. Get a wedding dress with sleeves- women of the day were too modest to show off their shoulders
  4. Where a birdcage wedding veil
  5. Choose knee or secretary length bridesmaid’s dresses (“wiggle dresses”)
  6. Wear bold, red lipstick
  7. Serve 1960′s style cocktails like Mint Julep’s (bourbon, mint and sugar) in vintage glasses
  8. Wear pearl jewelry-or adorn your bridesmaids with them
  9. Rent a vintage luxury car for your transportation instead of a limo

I love love love these Mad Men inspired wedding invitations created by Danielle Leopold Designs.  Every single detail, from the bold colors and unique fonts to the vintage photograph RSVP cards was cleverly constructed to complete the ultimate vintage invitation set.

If you’re more of a crafty and hands on bride, you can make your own Mad Men Save the Date I found on Your Savvy Soiree (originally posted by the Wedding Chicks)

This backyard style Mad Men inspired wedding, photographed by Dana Grant and posted last year on the brilliant Green Wedding Shoes blog has been bookmarked for 10 months and it’s still as impressive as it was when I first came across it.

There are SO many extraordinary images and details to this celebration that you cannot miss.  Visit Green Wedding Shoes and get the complete coverage of  Catie and Ben’s Real Wedding.  After four incredible seasons, there should be plenty more 1960′s Mad Men inspiration circulating the web.

In case you haven’t heard, there’s a new vintage era in TV land.  HBO’s latest series, Boardwalk Empire, has opened up eyes and hearts to the fabulous Roaring 1920′s. Beaded, fringed and feathered frocks, pearls galore and Great Gatsby style parties… need I say more?  If only I could have been a real flapper…

Finding an amazing and glamorous 20′s style gown should not be a difficult task these days.  Bridal Gowns by Jenny Packham and Sue Wong bridesmaids dresses immediately come to mind but there’s much more out there.  Of course, any ensemble can be jazzed up (cheesy pun intended) with 1920′s style jewelry and adornments.

Real Wedding at the Old Edwards Inn: Kelleigh+Morgan

Posted by on February 3, 2011 · 6 Comments

Kelleigh and Morgan are a beautiful couple (inside and out)!

Their relationship dates back to the Summer of 2002.  Exactly one year after meeting and some long distance dating, Kelleigh drove all the way from San Francisco to Detroit to live with Morgan. It was a big step but it was well worth the leap.  A year and a half later, they moved from Michigan to their current home in Dallas TX.

proposal and engagementengagement-oldedwardsinn

The couple spent eight happy years together, without any break ups.  Neither of them could picture their futures without the other in it.  The two discussed marriage plans and even went ring shopping together.

At the time, Kelleigh didn’t think she wanted a wedding and was planning a luxurious elopement at Turtle Islands in Fiji. While attending a family wedding in San Diego Morgan and Kelleigh decided to share their elopement plans with Morgan’s family. They expressed their disappointment as they would want to be present for such a long awaited occasion, so Morgan and Kelleigh began entertaining the idea of having a small wedding.

kelleigh's engagement ring

Although, the engagement was more of a mutual decision rather than a secret proposal, Morgan had a special surprise for his fiance.  His grandfather possessed an old miners-cut diamond that had been in the family for over 100 years, which he wore in a gold gentleman’s ring setting.  Both his grandfather and the rest of the family decided that they wanted Kelleigh to have it.

When Morgan came home and surprised Kelleigh with the heirloom diamond ring on behalf of the entire family, she was beyond touched.

“I love his grandfather dearly and have always had a special place in my heart for him.  The way the family got together collectively to give the ring to Morgan, to offer it to me, was better than any formal proposal I could ever have imagined. That night I received an invitation to the family” she said.

Dallas jeweler, Eric Olschwanger of Olschwanger Designs, put the diamond into the custom setting that he designed for Kelleigh (pictured).

kelleigh-morgan-wedding-date

When Tiffiiney Addis of Tiffiney Photography sent me Kelleigh and Morgan’s wedding photos, I couldn’t wait to share what looked like an absolute dream wedding.

First, I am OBSESSED with this picture of the beautiful, smiling bride kicking up her boots in the tub because it kind of sums up the wedding vibe without words.

Ledbetter_Thomas_TiffineyPhotography_boots and tub

The couple wanted a destination wedding weekend and decided that New Years would be the perfect time to celebrate with friends and family (old and new).

Kelleigh’s college friend, a professional wedding coordinator, suggested checking out the Old Edwards Inn and Spa in Highlands North Carolina.

“I loved everything about it based on the website.”  Kelleigh said.  “When I saw the barn in person, I completely fell in love.”

She adds, “During a lengthy conversation with our event planner, Alison of Hullabaloo Events, on June 27th, we both got carried away with ideas and within a span of 48 hours things were already falling into place. It was one of the most exciting times of my life!  A few days later, I went dress shopping just to look and ended up finding and buying my perfect dress.  It was like the wedding (rather than an elopement) was meant to be, so we just went with it.”

old edwards inn

The romantic scene set up for the bride and groom’s first sighting sounds magical and I can understand why it was one of Kelleigh’s favorite memories.

Before guests arrived, Morgan was standing by the fireplace where he would later exchange vows.  As the talented acoustic guitar duo, Melonbelly, played “Come Away with Me” by Norah Jones, Kelleigh walked down the aisle to embrace her soon to be husband.

first-glance

It was the perfect space for the couple’s intimate, rustic wedding style. The elegant affair was full of charming details that reflected the bride and groom’s personalies.  Kelleigh included her favorite color, green, into the decorative color palette mixed with earthy and neutral tones.  Candlelight and antique chandeliers filled the barn with just enough light to create a warm and ultra-romantic atmosphere.

kelleigh+morganreception

An acoustic guitar duo was a unique and memorable choice of music for a cozy setting of around 50 guests.  It’s impossible not to smile when looking at the beautiful black and white dance floor pictures.  You can see how touched their guests were to be watching in the background.

thank-you

Although Kelleigh and Morgan’s wedding was nothing like the luxury elopement they originally planned, it could not have been more perfect!

Let their wedding be a lesson of fate at work (proving that everything happens for a reason).

Wishing the adorable newlyweds a lifetime of love and happiness…

Real AZ Wedding-Lyndsay+Mick

Posted by on January 13, 2011 · 2 Comments

proposal and engagement

While Mick was supposed to be in Denver for the weekend, Lyndsay was spending time with friends and family in Arizona.  On Sunday, Lyndsay hiked up Camelback Mountain with a friend and her husband to take their Christmas card photo for them with the beautiful view behind them.

When Lyndsay reached the top of the mountain, there stood Mick, all dressed up.  He got down on one knee and romantically proposed, quickly turning Lyndsay’s confusion into excitement and tears of joy.  The “photo-opp” turned out to be hers.

wedding-date-Lyndsay-Mick

Lyndsay always knew she wanted to have an outdoor wedding.  “Mickey and I wanted to put an emphasis on nature and music to create a fun experience for our guests,” said Lyndsay. “It was a classic and comfortable styled event.”

After choosing the Paradise Valley Country Club as their venue, the couple knew their wedding scene would be gorgeous.  The rest of the details came together with help from her mother, the event manager at the Paradise Valley Country Club (Shannon VanEck) and friends.

.Lyndsays-dress

Lyndsay wore  a timeless wedding gown by Priscilla of Boston.  She looked stunning and seeing Mick looking handsome in his wedding attire was a sweet, emotional moment.

lyndsay-mick-first-sight

Lyndsay bridesmaids and friends were highly resourceful…

One bridesmaid helped Lyndsay find the chic black bridesmaids dresses from White House Black Market that looked fantastic on everyone and one bridesmaid’s father, a Pastor and friend of the couple, officiated the marriage.

Another bridesmaid, co-owner of the fabulous LA based Sugar Paper boutiques, created the couple’s invitations and provided her stylish eye to help develop the chic yellow, black and gray color scheme.

lyndsay-mick-ceremony

As you can see from the outstanding images by Drew Anderson Photography, the ceremony setting was breathtaking!

Lyndsay and Mick were married surrounded by mountains, trees and blue skies.  Could the two ring bearers be any cuter?

The yellow flowers and arrangements created by Camelback Flowershop added vibrant pops of color that reflected the fun, joyful wedding vibe.

AZ-wedding-details

The outdoor wedding reception was surrounded by lights that grew brighter as the sky got darker.

For the first dance, the couple’s friend Trey teamed up with their wedding band, Cold Shott and the Hurricane Horns, to play an incredible version of Van Morrison’s In the Mystic.  Everyone present was touched watching them on the dance floor as if nobody else was in the room.  To Lyndsay and Mick, it had sunk in that they were now husband and wife and living the wedding they dreamed of.  The two could not stop smiling.  “I might sound sappy but I would have to say that was probably the most magical moment in my life,” said Lyndsay.

first-dance

Lyndsay and Mick’s guests kept the dance floor packed all night and the groomsmen indulged in Cuban cigars.

groomsmen-cigars

“We new it was a fun group so we planned an after party at the Arcadia Room – full of music, drinks, food and dancing until 2am,” said Lyndsay.

The next day, they rented out cabanas at the Intercontinental Montelucia Resort and had one big pool party to cap off their perfect wedding weekend.

Real Wedding: Ashley+Alden

Posted by on January 1, 2011 · 4 Comments

ashley-alden-engaged

Above photo found on Ashley's personal blog: www.ashleysdailybucket.blogspot.com

In 2009, Ashley met Alden while living in her summer apartment complex in Provo Utah,  appropriately named “Sparks.”   Since Ashley would be returning home to Idaho in just a few months, the two began dating for fun, expecting nothing serious.  However, by the end of the summer, Ashley and Alden had accidentally fallen in love.

(Anyone else have the song “Summer Lovin” from Grease stuck in his or her head)?

Since I’ve already given away the happy ending, let’s fast forward to the day Alden popped the question.

proposal and engagement

The couple maintained a long distance relationship through the Fall until Ashley moved to Laue, Hawaii, where Alden was finishing up school.

About a month later, Alden crafted up a magical proposal that Ashley described as “a complete fairytale”

At 5:45 AM, Alden showed up at Ashley’s place to wake her up and tell her to be ready in an hour.  When he returned, he placed a blindfold over her eyes and took her for a thrilling moped ride.  Then he carried Ashley on his back to their picnic blanket that was set up along the beautiful ocean shore.  Just as the sun peaked over the horizon, Alden took off the blindfold, got down on one knee and asked Ashley to be his wife.  Hawaii engagement

Behind the bushes, close friends were watching and documenting the whole proposal and jumped out for a surprise celebration when she accepted.

“After the proposal we drove up the North Shore, had breakfast, watched a surfing competition and saw whales jumping in the ocean. Talk about magical!” recalls Ashley.

To read about the romantic proposal straight from the bride herself, check out the engagement post on her personal blog- Ashley’s Daily Bucket

Ashley and Alden planned their entire Rexburg, Idaho wedding together while living in Hawaii. Using  inspirations from various websites like Wed Savvy, the couple planned a unique DIY style wedding with vintage flair.

Justin Hackworth Photography

Meet Ashley and Alden: the beautiful bride and handsome groom

At the top of their priority list was booking a fantastic photographer.  Ashley, who previously worked for two professional photographers, knew that the right person would brilliantly capture all the special moments and emotions of the wedding which would last a lifetime.  The couple knew they were in good hands when they hired the talented Justin Hackworth for the job.

It was a tasteful and timeless affair.  Every detail had been thoughtfully designed to reflect Ashley and Alden’s unique personalities.

I loved Ashley’s description behind her “a & a” self-designed monogram on the lemonade jars.  She explained how she intentionally made the “&” symbol very large between their initials to emphasize that life was no longer about each of them individually, it was about both of them together.

idahowedding-2

Ashley and Alden’s wedding looks and sounds like one of the most sincere and genuine displays of pure love that I’ve ever seen- untainted by over-the-top embellishments.

At the end of celebration, the large white balloons that whimsically decorated the reception were given to guests who released them up into the air as the new Mr. and Mrs. Aikele exited the venue hand in hand.

Thanks to these special moments, countless smiles and candid images from Justin Hackworth Photography, I honestly feel like I was a part of their memorable celebration.

Real Wedding: Brittany + Bobby

Posted by on November 1, 2010 · 1 Comment

stineman- bride and groom

Meet Brittany and Bobby, a darling Chicago couple that has been on my wedding radar for quite some time.

There are too many reasons to adore this couple and I am sure you will be smitten after reading their story.

The pair met back in high school math class and shared an instant connection.  They quickly became an item proving at least one math lesson, “the sum is greater than it’s parts,” had really resonated.

Fast forward a decade or so…

proposal and engagement

Although time can drift people apart, the love of these high school sweethearts grew stronger as they grew into working adults.

Spending time apart was not easy for Brittany and Bobby. However, they made it a tradition to go out for a nice dinner after either of them had been out of town.  When Brittany came home from her trip to Alaska, she was ready to head straight from the airport to the restaurant (per Bobby’s request).  After parking the car downtown, Bobby mentioned they arrived early and suggested taking a walk through Chicago’s Millennium Park to kill time.

When they stopped at the nearby Buckingham Fountain, Bobby reached into his pocket.   To Brittany’s surprise, Bobby did not pull out any copper pennies to wish upon and throw into the fountain.

He was holding a sparkly diamond ring.  In that moment, Bobby got down on his knee and asked Brittany to be his wife (and make his wish come true)

Needless to say, wish granted!

brittany+bobby-engagement

The couple hired the insanely talented husband and wife team of Miller + Miller for their photography.

For their engagement session, the couple was pictured close to their downtown residence and near the shores of Lake Michigan.

I apologize in advance for being cheesy, but I simply cannot resist.

The photos were breathtaking making it hard to choose just a few to share.  Ultimately, I was drawn to the pictures that included a bundle of heart balloons.  Aside from being super cute props, the balloons are so fitting for Brittany and Bobby’s free-spirited and happy go lucky personalities.  This is a couple that can soar in any environment and under any circumstance.  What a clever way to kick off a celebration by releasing the hearts into the air and spreading their love!

THE WEDDING DATE

bobby+brittany-program

For their July wedding, the couple chose the more intimate lake setting of Delavan,Wisconsin.  They loved the mini-destination feel and relaxed setting the Lake Lawn Resort provided.

While Brittany got ready to become a married woman, the bridal loft was full of love and excitement.  Brittany was honored to have her mother, sister (the maid of honor) and bridesmaids beside her to share in her joy and see her transform into a stunning bride.

bride getting readybrittany getting ready

Brittany wore a timeless lace wedding gown by Watters, crystal jewelry by Erin Cole and beautiful white and pink orchids in her hair.  She was eager to see her groom standing at the alter that was decorated by rich, rustic branches and scattered flowers.

stineman-ceremony

Brittany wrote the entire ceremony herself, making it anything but cookie cutter.  It was full of laughter, tears of joy and thoughtfulness.  Recalling one special moment, she said:

“My incredible mother has always been my biggest inspiration throughout my life.  My mother in law is also very special to Bobby and I.  We were beyond grateful for their amazing help in making this day absolutely perfect for us. During the ceremony, we had a surprise tribute and rose presentation in their honor while the music, “Mama’s Song,” played in the background.  It was a precious moment I will treasure forever.”

After the two were officially married,  guests showered them with pink rose petals as they headed outside for some pictures.  They were so full of joy that the new Mr. and Mrs. Stineman did not need much direction to produce joyful and beautiful poses.lakeside lovebobby+brittany-wedding party

They were then joined by their 25 member wedding party.  Miller + Miller impressively directed the large group along the lakefront for some extraordinary images.

It was most important to Brittany and Bobby that all of their wedding guests had an absolute blast !

In fact, much of their wedding plans were based around having the band, Standing Room Only, play at their reception.   The couple discovered the group four years prior at a friend’s wedding and agreed it was their number one priority to book them for their own special day.  With just three open Saturdays in 2010, they snagged up July 24 for their wedding date.stineman reception collagefloating flower dance floor

Although the reception had a laid back feel, it was full of creative personal touches and ultra-dreamy details!  To compliment the Geneva Ballroom, Brittany chose white, pink and soft greens for her decorative color palette.  The coordinators of Speakers and Events R Us helped bring Brittany’s unique wedding visions to life.  I am swooning over the fantastic floating flowers that hung above the dance floor.

Just as Brittany and Bobby hoped, Standing Room Only had every guest up on the dance floor.  Watching friends and family dance the night away in celebration of their marriage was a feeling Brittany and Bobby will treasure for a lifetime.

To wrap up this charming lakeside love story, I leave you with this completely mind blowing image from the great Ryan and Sarah Miller

Real Wedding: Alyssa + Todd

Posted by on October 24, 2010 · 6 Comments

If you’re suffering from job remorse, the story of Alyssa and Todd might give you a brand new perspective.

This super cute couple crossed paths in the Corporate world and decided to grab dinner and drinks to discuss “work opportunities.” After several of these meetings, it seems the “work” excuse had been played out.

So, Todd asked Alyssa to attend a formal benefit for St. Jude Medical Center with him and the dating nerves kicked in.
“When Todd arrived to pick me up, we were both all dressed up as if we were going to prom or something,” recalls Alyssa.

After being seated in the Disneyland Resort ballroom, it was not that easy to let loose at a table of strangers.  As dinner was served and things were just starting to settle down, a random kitchen fire forced everyone out and into the cold. Watching people frantically scatter about, Todd and Alyssa were suddenly together, alone, and shared a sense of comfort and relief in that.

There was an undeniable chemistry between the pair which would prosper beyond work suits and formal functions from then on.

After a long and stressful work week, Alyssa arrived at the couple’s Orange County home to find a trail of petals leading to two dozen roses and a card. Although, the sweet note from Todd mentioned how he wished for them to grow old together, Alyssa believed that Todd was being a sweet boyfriend and just trying to lift her spirits.
By the time she turned around to thank him, Todd was down on one knee,  asking her to be his wife.

But that wasn’t the only trick up Todd’s sleeve that night.  When the two went out to dinner, close friends and family were waiting to surprise Alyssa and toast to the couple’s engagement.

After booking the luxurious St. Regis Monarch Beach for their wedding site, Alyssa and Todd knew the food, scenery and accommodations would be impeccable.

With demanding careers and a bride attending night classes for her MBA, the couple was happy to pass the planning torch to Diane Green, Alyssa’s mother, and wedding planner Sharon Gall of Once Upon A Time Weddings.

“We wanted to show up and have fun without any stress and, lucky for us, that’s exactly what happened,” said Alyssa.

On the day of the wedding, the sun was beaming.  This may sound typical for Orange County, but the infectious love and energy of the bride and groom made the day anything but ordinary.

Alyssa’s Rosa Clara wedding dress had a trumpet style fit,  a sweetheart neckline and a pleated, dropped waist with crystal embellishments below the bust.  On the hanger it was a beauty, but on the bride it was beyond breathtaking!

After adding final touches; including custom earrings from Sonya Taherian and Benjamin Adams heels, encrusted with blue swarovski crystals on the bottoms spelling “I DO,” Alyssa was ready and eager to see her groom.  Looking handsome, Todd was full of anticipation as he waited at the bottom of the resort’s infamous grand staircase to finally see his bride walking down the steps.

The scene was straight out of a fairy tale and an intimate moment the two will never forget.  Like their first real date, the couple got to experience the innate love and comfort of being alone with one another.  This time, however, it was even more significant as they would soon vow to spend the rest of their lives as husband and wife.

After some joyful tears, hugs and embraces, Todd and Alyssa joined their loving friends and family for a few pictures on golf course before the ceremony.

The outdoor wedding ceremony treated everyone to the most spectacular views.

“As the bride, I loved walking down the aisle and seeing my handsome groom at the end with the ocean and golf course behind him.  The smell of the flowers and the feeling of the sun on our shoulders was incredible,” said Alyssa.

After the two were officially married they released two white doves into the air and blissfully walked up the aisle together, ready to celebrate.

Now, here’s another lesson to take away from this wedding: never underestimate a mother’s knowledge of her children.

Diane Green thoughtfully took cues from her daughter and future son in law’s home color palette to create a space to match the couple’s modern style.  As the stunning details of the wedding unfolded before their eyes, the couple was blown away by all of the hard work that Diane and Sharon Gall had masterminded.  It was their perfect scene!

After looking back over the incredible images by Hoffmann Photographer and a few statements I had gathered, one guest’s description of the night seemed to hit the nail on the head.

“It was a modern mix of deep rich purple with a soft glow of lavender and mixtures of blues and greens with sparkles in-between,” she said. “Absolutely magnificent from start to finish!”

Every last detail of Alyssa and Todd’s wedding was incredibly cohesive.  I am enamored by so many charming elements, including; the textured silver chargers and detailed place settings, the lush floral arrangements banded by layers of sparkling rhinestones and a modern square cake infused with matching flowers and set on a thick rhinestone banded pedestal (Nisie’s Enchanted is one of my favorite florists in the business).

As the sun faded, the celebration continued on the white monogrammed dance floor set aside a charming fireplace.

The bride put on a short, glitzy reception dress by Mignon (that I completely adore) making it easier to dance the night away…

Jacqueline Trotter and Daniel Lotzof

When Daniel Lotzof and Jacqueline Trotter purchased a brand new Chicago condo together, it was already an exciting day for the high school sweethearts, but Daniel made sure it was extra-special.

The very same day, the two were planning renovations and decorating ideas so they decided to drop off paint samples. As Jacqueline opened the door, she discovered that Daniel had done some secret decorating on his own.

“I was so caught off guard I froze and started dropping tile and paint chips where I stood! I had the biggest smile on my face as I began to follow hundreds of red rose petals to the living room where Daniel had a table for two completely set up with a bouquet of roses, champagne and dinner from one of our favorite restaurants,” describes Jacqueline.

After a formal proposal and dinner, friends and family joined the couple to help celebrate.

“It was the most romantic moment of my life,” she adds.

The bride looked beyond breathtaking! Jacqueline’s Ulla Maija dress was a piece of fine architecture, featuring luxurious folds and tailored layers of duchess satin. “I felt like I was wearing a work of art,” said Jacqueline. That artwork truly became a masterpiece once it was on the beautiful bride. Just ask the lucky groom…

On September 6, 2009 (the big day) the sun was beaming, matching the smiles on the bride and groom’s faces. The couple had the talented Gerber and Scarpelli on board to capture all of their precious moments. Jacqueline and Daniel were photographed at their favorite Chicago structures and have so many magnificent photos of their Sweet Home Chicago.

The beautiful bridesmaids (wearing Jenny Yoo) got to enjoy the weather too and were photographed at Millenium Park along with the groomsmen, who also had some fun during the photo session.

Jacqueline and Daniel’s wedding style was timeless and romantic. Sharing an appreciation for divine architecture and design, the Chicago Cultural Center was the perfect venue for their September wedding. The glistening mosaic walls and ceilings, sky high windows overlooking Millenium Park, and the infamous Tiffany stained glass dome (pictured below) created a truly magical setting for their 330 guests.

The bride and her mother utilized their great style and design instincts to plan every detail of the luxurious affair. Jacqueline’s color palette of soft white, cream, peach, and green, with golden copper accents, complimented the organic beauty of the historic venue perfectly.

A Gentle Wind florist created both short and tall arrangements full of fresh, classic blooms, including green hydrangeas and classic peach and cream colored roses. The “penny l’amour,” copper shaded tablecloths added a rich luster to the regal setting.

The Jewish wedding ceremony was held in the Chicago Cultural Center’s Millenium Park room. While watching the ceremony, guests were treated to some of the most spectacular views of Chicago and a ceiling with exquisite details.

“My favorite part of the night was never leaving Daniel’s side. No matter where we were during the evening we stuck together and shared every memorable moment,” says Jacqueline.

“Our wedding was a special time to bring together the people who absolutely mean the world to Daniel and I, our friends and family,” says Jacqueline.

“Everyone could feel the love and warmth in the room and nobody wanted the night to end.
“Luckily, the pictures from Gerber and Scarpelli and sweet memories of the wedding will last a lifetime!
